Every year in April, YWCAs around the world commemorate World YWCA Day (April 24), highlighting the history and achievements of the global YWCA movement.
In 2003, the YWCA of Australia held the first annual YWCA Round the World Breakfast. Over a 24-hour period, from country to country, and continent to continent, YWCAs in over 40 countries participated in the biggest breakfast of the year. The World YWCA Council recommended that the Round the World Breakfast be continued annually to create awareness of the World YWCA and raise funds for the Power to Change Campaign.
We invite our YWCA Adelaide members and friends to gather over a delicious breakfast, and connect with each other and the work of the YWCA. In keeping with the global theme, we will have guest speakers sharing with us international experiences, including a report back from the World YWCA Council held in October 2015 in Bangkok. We will also be welcoming our guest from YWCA Tokyo, who we are hosting for the year.
There will be a kids corner with activities, and a canvas to write your message for World YWCA Day!
